About

Quite possibly one of the most soft-spoken and kind-hearted people you’ll ever meet in this profession, Ed began his career with Alpine over 20 years ago as an apprentice, and quickly proved himself an invaluable asset. With a background in construction and roofing, there was very little Ed didn’t know. As he completed his apprenticeship and became a journeyman plumber, he naturally became the go-to guru whenever questions arose.

Today, Ed wears many hats as shop foreman, renovation expert, and, unofficially, camp counselor. He carries the weight of our diverse team with incredible patience, humility, and a steady hand. Simply put, Alpine wouldn’t be the same without him.

Along with Ed comes one of Alpine’s greatest perks: his wife Janet. Known around the shop as the reason we all gain weight in the winter, Janet is an incredible baker who regularly brings in cinnamon rolls, fudge, cake pops, and her famous cookies. She genuinely makes the world a better place, or at least our office.

When Ed finds time for himself, he builds rat rods, custom vehicles crafted from scratch using reclaimed and unexpected materials. Think beer cans repurposed as overflow tanks, frames built from leftover steel, and rare Ford Pinto rear-end axles. It’s true craftsmanship. His whole family gets involved: Janet paints, his oldest son Zach helps with the builds and photography, and the projects become true family affairs.

Ed has built seven rat rods over the years, sold three, and currently has four completed, earning dozens of trophies at car shows across Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, and South Dakota. He’s currently working through what his son Zach describes as “a ridiculous amount” of projects, including a mafia-style build.

When asked why he became a plumber, Ed simply says, “It was something different.” Though our fearless leader Robert remembers that story a little differently.

Ed is the first one in the shop every morning and the last one to leave each day. We are incredibly grateful to have Ed, Janet, and their family as part of the Alpine family.
